How often should the kit be checked?

Twice a year, at the change to and from summer time 1. Our guides on food shelf life, water storage containers, emergency lighting and first-aid kits help with each part. For a grab-and-go bag rather than a home stock, see the 72-hour kit.

What about a ready-made kit?

If you consider a ready-made kit, compare its contents line by line with the tables above. No kit replaces your own medication, special diet food or personal needs, and the official Slovenian recommendations remain those of URSZR. You can equally assemble the whole supply yourself from the list as published.

Frequently asked questions

Are the quantities for a family or one person?

For one adult, for 30 days 1. Multiply by the number of adults and adapt for children.

Is table water the same as drinking water?

No. The list includes 10 litres of table water per adult in the 30-day food table and, separately, a drinking-water stock of at least 7.5 litres per person per day for three days 1.

Should I store candles?

Candles and matches are on the list, except where there is a risk of explosion; torches or light sticks are the alternative 1.
