Short answer. Poland's government asks every household to keep supplies for at least 3 days, including at least 3 litres of water per person per day, as set out in its 2025 Safety Guide posted to all homes 16. The country has over 70,000 shelter points for about 20 million people 5, two civilian siren signals 3, iodine tablets held in state reserves 7, and 112 as its general emergency number 1.

What is Poland's official preparedness guide?

The Poradnik bezpieczeństwa (Safety Guide, publication no. 1/2025) is published by the Government of the Republic of Poland 1. It covers home supplies, evacuation, shelters, alarm signals, blackouts, air attack, CBRN threats and first aid 1. Poczta Polska began posting it to all households on 22 December 2025, about 17 million copies announced to reach every home by the end of January 2026 6. It exists in Braille and in other languages online, at poradnikbezpieczenstwa.gov.pl 1.

Where should I start?

Three steps cover most of what the Polish authorities ask of households:

  1. Supplies. Build the 3-day home supply and one evacuation backpack per person 1. Start with the kit checklist.
  2. Know the signals. Learn the two civilian siren signals and install the RSO app 39. See alerts.
  3. Know your shelter. Look up your nearest shelter point on gdziesieukryc.pl and save the map for offline use 5. See public shelters.

Then put it in writing with a family emergency plan.

What is still being confirmed?
