Short answer. Chile has no single emergency number: each service has its own. SENAPRED teaches the "ABC de la emergencia": 131 for an ambulance, 132 for the fire brigade (Bomberos), 133 for the Carabineros police 1. Other useful numbers are 134 for the PDI investigations police and 130 for CONAF forest fires 1. SENAPRED coordinates disaster prevention and response under Law 21.364 2.
Which number do I call in Chile?
| Service | Number | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Ambulance, health emergencies (SAMU) | 131 | 1 |
| Fire brigade (Bomberos) | 132 | 1 |
| Carabineros (police) | 133 | 1 |
| PDI (Investigations Police) | 134 | 1 |
| CONAF (forest fires) | 130 | 1 |
| Violence against women helpline (SERNAMEG) | 1455 | 1 |
| CCHEN radiological emergency (24 h) | +56 2 23646202 | 3 |
SENAPRED's Plan Familia Preparada manual sums up the first three: "ABC de la emergencia: Ambulancia (131) Bomberos (132) Carabineros (133)" 1.
Who handles a radiological emergency?
The Chilean Nuclear Energy Commission (CCHEN) is responsible for nuclear and radiological safety and radiological emergency response 3. Besides the Central de Alarmas y Protección Física above, it lists radiation protection officers on call 24 hours (OPRA): +56 9 93194369 and +56 9 81988754 3. See the Chile iodine page for what Chile does and does not publish on radiological protection.
Which agencies run disaster response?
| Agency | Role | Website |
|---|---|---|
| SENAPRED (Servicio Nacional de Prevención y Respuesta ante Desastres) | National disaster prevention and response; replaced ONEMI under Law 21.364 2 | https://senapred.cl/ 4 |
| CCHEN (Comisión Chilena de Energía Nuclear) | Nuclear and radiological safety, radiological emergency response 3 | https://www.cchen.cl/ |
SENAPRED also posts current alerts on its website and social media; see the Chile alerts page for the SAE phone alert system.
How should I record these numbers?
Step 6 of SENAPRED's 8-step Plan Familia Preparada is a contact directory 1. Write the service numbers above, family contacts and a meeting point on paper, keep one copy in your emergency kit and one at home, and agree who calls whom. Our family plan guide and important documents guide cover how to organise this.

SENAPRED, created by Law 21.364 of 2021 2.
